Jane Seymour

“My aim is to create beautiful objects that are for myself a joy to make and for others a joy to look at. I work with smoke because there is a mystery and a magic in the shapes and images created - a sense of softness and movement that is at the same time held within the stillness of form. I make one-off pieces, and generally work towards an exhibition. My aim is for at least one exhibition a year, and also to work for commissions.”

Jane Seymour resides in Kilkenny and in June 2008, participated in the Iniscealtra Festival of Arts in Mountshannon, County Clare. There she worked with fellow Irish artisan Terry O’Farrell to hold a workshop for schools from Scariff and Tuamgraney N.S. Each morning for two weeks they made masks based on their visit to the exhibition by John Ahearn at Scariff Library, and their works were on display during the festival.
